Rare example of Danish Army’s dagger, model 1870.
HANDLE made of a solid piece of ebony or eboniteof square cross-section. The top of the handle is decoratedwith an overlay in the form of diverging relief rays. A square brass nut is located at the bottomof the handle.
CROSS-GUARD: brass, flat, figured, with balls at the ends.
BLADE: straight, flat, single-edged, nickel-plated, double-edged at the tip. The hilt may be stamped"WKS" or unmarked.
Blade length: 185 mm.
Blade width: 18 mm.
Overall length: 300 mm.
Length with scabbard: 320 mm.
SCABARD: black leather. The scabbard fittings are brass, consisting of a long mouth and a tip ending in a ball. The mouth has two rings for attaching the sword belt straps.
In 1910, the dagger was awarded to unterofficers of the Danish Army's engineering corps, along with candidates for military doctors and veterinarians.
