Rare Set Officer’s Cross of the French Legion of Honour (Légion d’Honneur) from the era of the Third Republic (from 1870). The central medallion bears “République Française 1870” to the obverse and “Honneur et Patrie” to the reverse. Complete with red ribbon(width approx. 40 mm), a pair of white leather gloves and a period portrait photo, presented in a wooden casket. Total weight approx. 23 g.
Classic five-armed star with fine white enamel and a gilt laurel–oak wreath between the arms. An elegant Officer grade insignia in silver and enamel with gilt details – a representative piece from the early Third Republic.
This particular decoration was awarded to a woman – an extremely rare honour for that period, as female recipients of the Legion of Honour were exceptional in the 19th-early XX century.
