This fine, original example in very good condition!
Cutlass have a very nice grip, without any cracks. Frequently the wood base beneath the celluloid covering shrinks which inevitably causes cracking and chips.
The pommel and guard remain crisply detailed throughout. The guard clamshell is decorated with patterns of oak and laurel leaves, with an applied National Hunting Association insignia, held in place by means of bent over prongs.
The long black leather scabbard is sewn up the rear, with twin accent lines on the edges. The lower fitting shows some freckling on the plating but is not pitted.
The nearly mint blade measures nearly 16 inches long. The finish is somewhat matte and has been engraved with hunting and marksmanship images on both sides. The reverse ricasso is etched with the Alcoso trademark and the original felt washer is in place.
A fine example here, rare to find and can enrich any collection.
