Attractive Studentenbund sidearm with distinctive stag horn grip plates, manufactured by the Solingen maker Rudolf Büchel. Such sidearms were worn by student organizations as representative dress weapons and are characterized by high-quality workmanship and decorative execution.
Grip: Both sides fitted with natural stag horn grip plates, front-riveted. In the center of the obverse grip plate is the NS Student Union emblem, mounted in a movable manner. Solid, nickel-plated hilt fittings with a well-shaped crossguard and rounded pommel. The grip is tight and free of play.
Blade: Polished, single-edged blade in classic sidearm form, reverse marked with the maker’s mark “Rudolf Büchel, Solingen”. The blade shows only light, age-related traces and is overall in very good condition. Blade shoulders and crossguard fit precisely – typical of the quality standards of the Solingen cutlery industry.
Hilt fittings: Nickel-plated crossguard and pommel in clean condition, without notable damage. The sidearm displays the typical form of student representative weapons of the period and represents a historically interesting example of civilian student tradition.
